The TP-Link RE605X scored admirably in both this and our simpler, almost-line-of-sight test, which we conducted afterward. Everything else we tested had issues at some point, usually when we switched to a more challenging test that involved placing a large number of walls and furniture between the extender and the laptop we were testing it with. The RE605X, out of all the extenders we tested, had the strongest wifi signal across the greatest distance. We found that it provided constant, high performance across 90 percent of our benchmarks, and while it wasn’t the quickest on every metric, no other extender we tested was able to match it in terms of overall real-world performance. The performance of TP-RE605X, Link’s a Wi-Fi 6 extender that performs what it needs to do without the need for any additional bother or software bloatware.
